Senior Awards and DAP Recognition Night - join me in recognizing our superb counseling and administrative staff for the fantastic program they put together this year for our DAP and Senior Awards Night. 189 seniors were on the list to be honored. Our thanks go to Lead Counselor, Vicki Pittman and Career Specialist, Darlene Snell, for their leadership and management of the program. In addition, let us honor counselors Karen Hu, Paula Evard, Gary Tittle, Denisa Valenzuela, Amanda Embrey and Randa Tepfer for their guidance and presentation. For our administrative support, we are indebted to our TIS Holly Berndt and our counseling support staff Val Steelman and Cari Robinette. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Bay Area Citizen Future Leader Award - Clear Lake High School is proud to name Mackenzie Swan as theBay Area Citizen Future Leader. We have chosen Mackenzie because she is very involved not only academically, but she is a great example of a future leader who deeply understands the importance of community involvement.
Spring Football Game 2013 was a hit! Let us recognize and thank all our football coaching staff and athletic trainers for the Spring Football game on Saturday, May 25th. By all accounts, our 2013 football players looked great and are gearing up for a fantastic fall season. Way to go!!
Asia Night at Lake was a cultural experience that was enjoyed by all! Many thanks to advisor Janet Voor for her guidance and management of the students in our very enthusiastic Asian Club! We are proud of you all.
Special Olympics recognition at Lake! Clear Lake athlete Miles Lewis participated in the State Summer Games in Arlington this past weekend: Miles participated in Basketball and received 4th place with his team. Congratulations, Miles! We are proud of you.
Flip Flops in West, TX was a huge hit! Let us recognize Mrs. Amy McDonald, our sophomore principal, and her secretary, Mrs. Sotsuda and thank them for driving to the town of West, TX to deliver hundreds of flip-flops this to the students at West HS. They took a special homemade card that our students signed wishing everyone well and hope for their future as they recover from the devastating explosion at the fertilizer plant.
Drawing! Painting! Sculpting! Clear Lake Art Club's Spring Art Show was a huge success in its inaugural year. There were many terrific items on display that showcased our incredibly talented young artists at Lake. Let us recognize our art teachers
Candice Matthies, Michele Martin-McDulin and Peter Storms for teaching our students and encouraging them to be creative and innovative as they express their thoughts and ideas through art.
The Fine Arts Concerts were a smashing success this spring! Let us recognize and thank our directors who orchestrated picture perfect concerts with a panoply of great music and songs to entertain packed houses for each concert. For

Teacher Innovative Grant Winners at Lake - Let us give a shout out to Shelly McCormick, our awesome Latin teacher and Lillian Wilson, our awesome Project Lead the Way teacher for receiving teacher innovative grants for their programs. Mrs. McCormick received two grants totaling $2,500 to purchase software for Latin vocabulary mastery and a mobile language lab the department can use. Mrs. Wilson received one grant for $2,500 to help her advanced engineering students add to and complete a water filtration mechanism they begun last year. Congratulations, Lillian and Shelly!
CLHS Choir Members Advance! In February, 12 Clear Lake Choir students advanced to the All-State level of UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest. Memorial Day weekend, 11 of those students competed at the University of Texas in Austin. Of the 11 soloists, more than half received gold medals, and the rest all received silver!
Lake's gold medalists are: Emily Beisert, Sabrina Tran, Vishmi Abeygunarathna, Jacky Ovalle, Paul Arceneaux, and Caroline Busselberg. Our silver medalists include: Christina Soisson, Bethany Warner, Divya Koyyalagunta, Jolanta Nowobilski, and Hannah Seavey.
A giant round of congratulations to these talented singers for representing Lake and Clear Lake Choir so very well at State! And, a thank you to Mr. Coffey and Miss Neva for their guidance, direction and leadership.

Incoming/Freshman Parent Tea on Wednesday, May 15th at 9:00 a.m. in the 9th Grade Center (NGC) Library
The Clear Lake High School PTSA will host the annual Incoming Freshman Parent Tea on Wednesday, May 15th at 9:00 a.m. in the Ninth Grade Center Library. The meeting will last approximately until 10:30 a.m. Come and learn whether or not the things you’ve heard about high school are true or just rumors. Faculty and parents will be available to help answer questions about the high school experience. Tours of the high school will be provided.
