The Clear Creek Independent School District invites the community to a public hearing regarding the 2010-2011 school boundary changes.  The purpose of the boundary revisions is to populate the new Bayside Intermediate and Clear Falls High  School at the CCISD Education Village.

Meeting times and locations are as follows:
December 8, 7:00 PM, Clear Brook High School Commons
December 10, 7:00 PM, Clear Springs High School Commons

December 17, 7:00 PM, Clear Lake High School Commons

Fore more information about the school boundary committee, call the Office of Public Information at 281-284-0020.  The School Boundary Advisory Committee (SBAC), comprised of 27 citizens representing the entire district, has developed a set  of recommendations for public feedback and ultimately for consideration by the Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees.  The Board will have final approval on school boundaries for the 2010-2011 school year.  The purpose of the SBAC was to populate Clear Falls High School, Bayside Intermediate, and even out the population across all high school attendance boundaries.  Four public hearings will be held in December in order for the committee to receive feedback from the community (see article above).  A final recommendation will be presented to the CCISD Board of Trustees during its January general meeting. Following is a summary of the committee's recommendations with associated proposed maps:

When opening a new high school, the practice in CCISD is the incoming 9th grade and 10th grade students will transfer to the new school, the junior and senior classes remain.  The SBAC is  recommending to the Board that this practice apply to all high  schools affected by the proposal.  When opening a new  intermediate school, all incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will transfer to the new school.  Parents may seek a  waiver for 8th grade but will need to provide transportation. Clear Creek ISD's online virtual school has a new name, but the mission remains the same.  Clear Access (formerly know as e4 Academy) offers students the ability to access high school classes online anytime, anywhere. Online classes are a  convenient way for students to earn credits outside the traditional school day.  Classes are taught by CCISD teachers and require counselor approval.

Need Input on Parent Education Topics

The PTSA would like to have input for parent education topics for the upcoming year. Information could come to you in the form of articles in this newsletter or from speakers at a program. Please give us your opinion by completing the Interest Survey Form. You may fill it out and email it to Tammy Barrier, PTSA 1st VP Programs, at cmbarrier@aol.com. If you prefer, just send me an email listing any topics you’re interested in. Another option is to print the survey form, fill it out, put it in an envelope marked PTSA, and drop it off at the main office at the main building or ninth grade building. If you have a preference for the day or time of day programs are offered, please let me know that as well. Thank you!

President's Welcome

January 7, CLHS PTSA meeting  - Parent Program “Road Rules”

"Car crashes are the number one killer of children and youth. Experts now say that "crashes aren't accidents" since driver behavior
makes most crashes predictable and preventable. Get the details about student programs, driver education, graduated
driver licensing and the new points system.  Learn what parents can do to help new drivers be more aware of the risks of the road.

Karen Slay, Texas PTA 2nd Vice President, will be our featured speaker presenting Texas PTA's "Road Rules" parent program.  It will

start after a short business meeting that begins at 7:00 PM in the CLHS NGC Commons. We hope to see you there!"
