Volunteer on a as needed basis and only when you’re available:

Volunteers help with school  activities (schedule pick up, parking permits, dances, and so on) and with PTSA activities (popcorn sales, newsletter mail-out, teacher appreciation lunches, etc.)  If you are interested in seeing what is available, send me your e-mail address, and you will get e-mails that tell you what is coming up.  Sign up for what looks good, pass on the rest, and we're in business.  Thanks for your gift of time.  Vicky Fransham, CLHS PTSA Volunteers Chairman, 281-480-0841,  vickyfransham@comcast.net.

Volunteer on a regularly scheduled basis so you have a set time and dates:

Volunteer in the copy/workroom at the 9th Grade Center or Main Campus!  The workroom provides a copying service to the teachers throughout the year.  Each volunteer is scheduled at a regular time to come in and run copies - usually for a few hours every week, or even every other week if this fits your schedule better.  The workroom is a good way to be involved in your school and to work "behind the scenes."  It is a wonderful service to the teachers who are grateful of the time we spend making copies for them.  You do not have to have prior experience on the copy machine - we'd be happy to train you!  Please contact Lynn Barg at:  barg4us@yahoo.com or 281-461-8031.

The PTSA in partnership with the CCISD and the Bay Area Alliance for Youth & Families welcomed Denise Crouch as the guest speaker at the first regular PTSA meeting in September 4th.  Denise discussed the recent survey that polled high school students about drug use.  She told us what drugs are common these days, what new drugs are being used, how available drugs are and what percentage of students are taking drugs and at what age they start. She spoke frankly as well as what signs you should look for if you suspect drug use and where you can turn for help if needed.

This was a Parents Only meeting.  In addition, there will be a student meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2008, 7:00 PM, at the CLHS Ninth Grade Center commons. At this meeting Denise will address the same topics and include the consequences of drug use and how it can affect their future with the students.

Please join us for our CLHS PTSA meetings as our goal is to keep all of our families involved and informed about what is going on at our campus and with your child. Statistics confirm that a child’s biggest deterrent to drug use is YOU!  Questions?  Contact Sue Ferguson, sf16255@earthlink.net.

CLHS PTSA Meeting - Thursday, November 6th, 7:00 PM, NGC Commons

The 2008-2009 Reflections Theme is "Wow!"  It's time to get started on your entries!  The PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its annual arts Reflections Program.

The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art in six areas:  literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, and film/video.

Entries will be judged based on artistic merit, creativity, and interpretation of the theme.  Selected works will be sent on to the PTA Council level.  Entries reaching the national level of judging will be eligible to win scholarships and cash awards.  Pick up your entry form in the Library, Counseling Center, or by downloading.

The deadline date for submission of entries is Monday, October 13
